Psalm 52

Psalms Setting:
David pens this psalm to encourage himself when Abimelech dies and the priests terrorized
God’s people. David is in exile and flies to the tabernacle at Nob. Doeg informs on David’s
whereabouts to Saul. Here David buoyed by God given faith encourages himself that God the judge will vinicate those who fear Him, punishing the pride of the ungodly. John Calvin

Notes:
Read the background to the psalm in I Samuel 21:1-7, 22:9-19

Purpose:
I want to persuade my hearers to believe God is just in times of personal trial, vindicating those who fear Him and punishing the prides of the ungodly.
