Form: A Prayer

"The greater part is indeed occupied in singing the praises of God, but the whole ought to be considered a prayer; in which for the purpose of elevating his mind to confidence in God, he calls to remembrance, according to his usual manner, by what wonderful displays of the power of God he had formerly been delivered from the violence and power of his enemies." Purpose of Sermon: I want to motivate my hearers when in trouble to worship praise pray to God when in trouble.

Sermon Outline:

HOW TO RESPOND TO TROUBLE v1-2, 11, 14

Respond with all your heart v1a

To God v1-2

The Lord v1, 11, Thy wonders v1b, Thee v2a, Thy name, O most High. v2b

In worship v1-2, 11, 14

By giving thanks v1a

By telling/declaring By being glad/exulting/rejoice v2, v14

By singing praises v2b

And in prayer v19-20

Ask Him not let men have control v19

Rather being fearful of God in self knowledge v20

WHY CAN YOU RESPOND TO GOD IN TROUBLE? v1b, v3-6, v7-11, v12, v14

Because of what God has done continues to do v1b, v3, v11, v14

1. God’s wonders v1b, deeds v11, Thy salvation v14 controls the destiny of your enemies v3

Because God is the Judge v4-8

1. Maintaining my cause in justice v4

Who destroys blotts out His enemies v5-6

God is the king who judges v7b

God Judges the world according to His standards v8

Because God is a safety house, not forsaking you v9-10

Knowing God leads to trusting Him v10a

Because God doesn’t leaving seekers v10b

Because God never forgets, rather He answers your prayers v12
